Cancellation Policy

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If your child cannot attend a scheduled session, please provide 24 hour notice to avoid a full session charge.


Using Teachworks

Teachworks is the platform we use for scheduling, parent communication, and billing. Once your student begins tutoring sessions, you will receive an email to complete your Teachworks account.

We ask that all new families add payment information by going to Billing>Credit Cards so that have your payment information on file. Smith Street Workshop will automatically debit your card on file for the tutoring sessions attended that day. Providing your credit card information into our system authorizes Smith Street Workshop to charge your credit card for the sessions attended.

Teachworks will also send weekly reminders for upcoming tutoring sessions. Tutors also leave lesson notes on your student’s profile after their sessions. You will receive those by email as well.

FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?

You can change your password at anytime! If you are logged in, you can change your password by going to Account & Settings > Update Password.

If you forgot your password, simply go to your login page, click on "Forgot Your Password?". Instructions to reset your password will be sent to your email address.


Unfortunately, all of our classes are usually fully booked, so we do not normally have the space for students to drop in on a different weekday class if they miss a class. For this reason, we will be using a class website to post resources from each class and to keep parents and students informed in the event of an absence.


If your student missed a class, we encourage him/her to catch up on the material covered in class by reading through the class slides and working through the problems sets listed in the slides. Our instructors post all slides on our class website, as well as weekly homework assignments.

Inclement Weather

Individual Tutoring & Small Group Sessions
In the event of inclement weather (snow, sleet, hail, severe thunderstorm) we will leave it up to the discretion of the family and tutor as to whether or not a lesson will be held.  

When there is inclement weather, tutors and families may email info@smithstreetworkshop.com on lesson days if they wish to cancel the lesson, and so at least 3 hours prior to the session in order for us to contact both parties.

Group Classes
In the event of inclement weather (snow, sleet, hail, severe thunderstorm), Smith Street Workshop reserves the right to cancel the class.

In a case of cancellation, families and teachers will be contacted via email at least 2 hours prior to the start of the class. Please note that in the (very rare) case of group class cancellations, there will be no make-ups or refunds.


Late Fees

We try to be as accommodating as possible, but want to make sure all students are picked up on time. Late fees will be assessed when children are not picked up at the end of their session (if unable to self-dismiss). After a 5 minute grace period, we will charge a fee of $1.00 per minute/per child.
