We support students from Kindergarten through High School across all subject areas.

Our teaching philosophy is based in the traditions of progressive education with a firm belief in respecting children as learners and in understanding that we do not all learn at the same rate or in the same way.

The most important aspect of our teaching is to build confidence and engender a sense of optimism and curiosity in our students when faced with a complex new concept. Too often students have the impression that if they do not understand something initially, they must not be good at it, when in fact not to know sets the stage for new learning. The way a student approaches an obstacle or not knowing makes all the difference in an ability to experience success and satisfaction in learning and life. Valuing the hard work and effort it takes to master new material is crucial in a child's cognitive and emotional development, and it is a concept that can be taught.

Through encouraging minor shifts in a child's perspective about the learning process, we have seen our students make remarkable academic gains as they uncover a renewed sense of ownership of the educational experience. Acquisition of new skills and mastery of new concepts is a natural outgrowth of this process, and our tutors tailor their lessons specifically to take each student's learning to the next level.

We look forward to helping your child rediscover the joy of learning and a sense of wonder when faced with intellectual challenges.

Individual Sessions

Let us know your child's grade level, needs and interests, and we will pair them with the teacher who will provide the best support.

Semi-Private, Small Group Sessions

Often, students need support in similar areas and can benefit from small group work and collaboration to advance their skills. Students in a group tutoring session must be in the same grade and at similar levels in their studies in order for the work together to be productive.

Parents may propose a group of 2–4 students, and/or we can help coordinate with other students before matching the best tutor to facilitate the weekly hour-long session.
