Our French classes are engaging, interactive, and designed and taught by gifted and experienced bilingual educators. We have classes for infants & toddlers all the way through adulthood. Our goal is to make language learning fun and meaningful and to instill a lifelong love and appreciation for the French language and culture.

In Comédie Musicale, students will make connections with French music, language, and culture through various genres of French vocal and instrumental music. An emphasis is placed on French vocabulary acquisition, which is reinforced through movement, vocal and visual art exercises that are designed to be fun and allow for students to play an active role in the artistic decisions we make as a class.  Students will identify common themes that reveal themselves throughout these mediums, and develop a short musical theater piece that they will rehearse throughout the course.

Pick-Up from PS 58, PS 29, or BNS at dismissal time is available for an additional $10 per class!  To add this service, please select the after school pick-up option when registering.

Préparation au DELF - Diplôme d'études en langue française

What is the DELF program? The DELF is an internationally recognized diploma awarded by the French ministry of education that certifies a student's French language proficiency. For Smith Street Workshop, the DELF provides a wonderful framework for our language classes - its benchmarks reflect excellent language instruction that encompasses speaking, listening, writing, reading as well as a basic understanding of French culture and history. In June, our students will have the option of registering at the Alliance Française for the DELF exam, which will provide them with a diploma that is valid for life, certifying their French proficiency at one of 6 different levels.
